Felipe Buitrago is an economist, author, and strategist with more than two decades of experience in the Cultural & Creative Economy and Information & Communications Technology sectors. Widely recognized as one of the foremost voices on creativity as an engine of growth, he has contributed to policymaking, research, and international strategy.
As Minister of Culture of Colombia, Felipe played a leading role in shaping national creative economy policies. He previously served as Ambassador of Colombia to Germany, Deputy Minister of Creativity and the Orange Economy, and Presidential Advisor for Economic and Strategic Affairs.
He is co-author of the influential works The Orange Economy: An Infinite Opportunity and The Orange Economy: An Infinite Reality with former Colombian President Iván Duque, and co-author of The No Collar Economy with Sam George of the Bertelsmann Foundation. His publications, studies, and policy contributions have made him an international reference in the creative economy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Felipe’s career also includes leading roles as Director of TicTac (the think tank of the Colombian Chamber of Informatics and Telecommunications), Programme Manager for Developing Creative Economies at the British Council in London, and consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, DC.
An economist from Universidad de Los Andes with a Master’s in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins SAIS, Felipe combines expertise in economics, culture, and strategic security. His work continues to inspire innovation and shape global dialogue on the power of creativity in economic and social transformation.
